Emergency medical
Paramedic level care on every engine and two transporting medic units. This is 71 percent of the call volume.
Fire suppression
Structure, vehicle and wildland response across 22 square miles, with automatic aid to three neighbouring districts.
Technical rescue
Vehicle extrication, rope, confined space and water rescue, staffed out of Truck 1 at Station 1.
Fire prevention
Inspections, plan review, permits and origin and cause investigation, run by the fire marshal's office.
Training
Recruit academy, promotional development and the monthly company drill schedule, on the Station 2 grounds.
Community risk
Smoke alarm installs, car seat fittings, CPR classes and the school programme. Free, and always will be.
Testing opens 3 March.
Cedar Hollow hires twice a year through an open competitive process. No experience required, and we pay you through the academy.
What you need
- 18 years or older, high school diploma or GED
- Valid driver licence, clean record for three years
- State EMT certification, or you get it in the academy
- Pass the CPAT, the written exam, and a background check
- Live within 45 minutes of the city after probation
Pay and schedule
Base pay before overtime, holiday and certification pay. Full medical for you and your family, employer paid pension, and 20 years to retirement. Figures are illustrative sample data for this design concept.

Every station is staffed around the clock. Walk up any time, the door is answered.
Headquarters
412 Ironwood Avenue, downtown. Administration, the fire marshal's office and the training tower.
Millbrook
88 Millbrook Road, on the north side. Covers the industrial corridor and the river crossings.
South Ridge
2200 South Ridge Parkway. Newest house, opened to cover the growth south of the highway.
